Weather

Dar es Salaam experiences tropical climate conditions typified by hot and humid weather throughout much of the year, owing to its close proximity to the equator and the warm Indian Ocean.

Two rainy seasons occur during the year, long rains towards the end of April into May and short rain showers in November. The Kaskazi is the name given to the seasonal trade winds that blow from the northeast from around the end of November until February, and the Kusi, the southeast trade wind blows from early July through to mid-September.
