Visiting Yachts
The Dar es Salaam Yacht Club is fortunate to receive visiting yachts that arrive from the “Seven Seas”, bringing with them news and experiences from around the world sailing. DYC is a prime location for sailors seeking a safe anchorage with the opportunity to re-stock supplies from nearby amenities.
Before anchoring at DYC, the visiting yacht must first have completed the official entry into Tanzania with the relevant authorities at the Dar es Salaam Harbour, or any other port along this coast.
Upon arrival, visiting yachts can anchor on the outskirts of the DYC moorings, and request a dinghy service to shore on Channel 9. The Office will assist with registration and a visiting yacht membership will be issued upon completion of the required documentation, payment of a refundable deposit and a subscription fee for the duration of the intended stay.
Memberships are required for the visiting skipper and each of the crew members over the age of eighteen for the utilisation of the following Club facilities:
- Fuel purchase
- Fresh water
- Space to anchor your vessel
- Ability to purchase National Marine Park tickets
- Access to all restaurant and bar areas
- Use of bathroom facilities
- Use of the beach area
- Free parking
The use of the DYC facilities is governed by the DYC Rules and Bye Laws and visiting sailors will be introduced to the Club, including it’s rules and code of behaviour at the time of registration. At registration visitors will also sign the Guest Book acknowledging such rules and receive a VY membership card. The DYC is a non-cash Club and the membership card is the only way to make purchases at the Club. Deposits into the DYC membership account can be made in cash at the bank situated one kilometre from the Club, or by bank transfer in advance of your visit. If only visiting for two days or less, a different arrangement may be possible depending on circumstances and by prior arrangement with the DYC Office.
The Quarterdeck offers a relaxed atmosphere where visiting sailors can meet and socialise with other members. Over the years this area has become a favourite meeting place where many sailing adventures have been recounted. We look forward to welcoming visiting sailors to DYC.
